MOM & ME READING SESSION

Growing Together, One Story at a Time

In a world filled with screens, busy schedules, and endless distractions, there is something magical about a parent sitting beside their child with a book in hand.

At Makurday, we are introducing Mom & Me Reading Session — a quiet, joyful reading session for one hour designed for mothers (or caregivers) and children below 5 years of age.

What is Mom & Me Reading Hour?

Our goal is to create a calm, welcoming environment where a mom & the child can enjoy reading together without distractions and grow as a community.

Each parent reads to their own child at their own pace. Some children may listen quietly, some may point at pictures, some may ask endless questions, and some may wander between books. Every child experiences books differently, and that's perfectly okay. And who better knows a kid, than a mom!!

Our Session Format

 The session is intentionally simple.

  • Parents and children arrive and settle into the reading area.
  • Each family chooses a comfortable spot.
  • Parents read aloud to their child.
  • Children are encouraged to look at pictures, ask questions, and interact with the story.
  • Families can exchange book recommendations and interact with other parents after the reading session.

Bring Your Own Book—or Discover a New One

Moms are welcome to bring a favourite children's book from home.

Reading a familiar story often gives young children confidence and excitement.

Don't have a book? No problem. We will suggest you one from our store. You can purchase one from our carefully curated collection before the session begins.

Over time, building a small home library gives children constant access to stories and encourages daily reading habits.

Why Read Together?

Research consistently shows that reading aloud during the early years plays a significant role in a child's development.

Regular shared reading helps children:

  • Develop stronger language and vocabulary.
  • Improve listening and attention span.
  • Build imagination and creativity.
  • Develop early literacy skills before they start school.
  • Strengthen emotional bonding with parents.
  • Improve concentration and curiosity.
  • Associate books with comfort, happiness, and family time.

Perhaps the greatest benefit is that children who grow up seeing books as part of everyday life are far more likely to become lifelong readers.
